Can we take our visiting Costa Rican student into Canada?
We are U.S. citizens. We would like to take her to Niagara Falls, Ontario. If she has a passport to get into the United States, will that be valid for her to cross the Canadian border? What will she need? We would be staying for one night.

No, she would need to get a Canadian visa. Passport holder of Costa Rica are not exempt from the Canadian visa requirement. A U.S. visa does not waive this requirement. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/visas.asp ..

Health insurance for student studying in Canada?
Health insurance for student studying in Canada?
I am studying in Canada in the fall and my health insurance from the states does not cover me in Canada. What are some of my options? My school will offer very limited insurance, covering only emergencies basically. What are some legit travelers insurance companies that I can try? Thank you!

Since you should buy the insurance before you come, you'd probably be better off checking around where you live to see what's available. Maybe your regular health care coverage can be extended to Canada if you pay more. I've bought travel insurance here in Canada for when I was going to the US and it wouldn't cover a simple visit to a doctor. It had at least a $500 deductible. Canadian health insurance companies such as Blue Cross don't, as far as I know, offer basic health insurance here because hardly anyone one needs it. They do sell coverage for things that aren't covered by government health plans in Canada.

You should check with the office that issued the student visa for Canada about health care for international students.
2 :
Travelers insurance also only covers emergencies, not routine stuff. But if it's not an emergency, you can come back to the states to see the doctor.

How do you calculate your overall student average(Ontario, Canada)?
How do you calculate your overall student average(Ontario, Canada)?
So far, I've added all my marks from my transcript and divided by the number of classes I've taken. Is this the correct way to calculate the student average? I'd like to know because I plan on applying to universities and I don't know what average they might be talking about. Is it overall student average or like the American GPA?

well...average is the assumed constant value for the total entries of the data...!! u just simply add the observations...divide by the number of observations....got the avarage...!! if u are asking about the average of many averages, do the same.....addd up the averages and divide by the number of averages....but all averages must be similar in concern and purpose....

Well, Universities usually look at your average from grade 12 and maybe grade 11.. Not your overall average from grade 9 - 12. So for your grade 11 average you'd add all 8 then divide by 8, same with grade 12. But you don't mix marks from one grade and another :) It's the same as the American GPA but theirs is done differently. So for example, if you've heard of Trent University.. they have a deal where if your average is 90% + then they pay your tuition. But the 90% average is only from your grade 12 year.
