If you live in America and want to go to college as an international student in Canada, will you pay tuition?
Because college in Canada is free. Is it also free for international students?

probably not.

It's not free, and international students pay a lot more.

Oh my...I don't know where you heard that college in Canada is free...its not (I have two nieces in college - (one in BC & one in Manitoba). They are partially subsidized by the government, but not to the point that its free. Here's a cross-Canada tuition comparison from the UC British Columbia website for non-international students: http://www.students.ubc.ca/tuitionconsultation/201112-tuition-proposal/vancouver-proposal/comparative-tuition-and-fees/ At UBC, its about $120 per undergraduate credit, for international students its about $700. Here's a link for international rates at UBC: http://www.students.ubc.ca/coursesreg/tuition-fees-deposits/tuition-international-students/

You have to be a naturalized Canadian citizen in order to get free college. It's definitely not free for international students -- in fact, you'd probably end up paying a lot more. Sorry, there's no quick fix to pay out the nose for college.

College in Canada means community college. And I have no idea how you got the idea it was free in Canada. Some European countries have free university but in Canada it is not free to anyone, citizens or otherwise. And you will pay even more as an international student.

opportunities in canada for international student?
opportunities in canada for international student?
I was born in Panama. My parents are chinese. I'm currently attending a college in california, USA. My parents are planning to move to canada (maybe winnipeg, perhaps vancouver). I'm going with them. I've read bad stuff about immigrants going back to their countries because Canada doesn't recognize their skills and because they don't get paid well. I want to study nursing in Canada. is it too difficult for international students to get into a nursing program? could i be hired by hospitals, etc, after getting my diploma, even if I'm an international student? also, how expsensive is it to live in vancouver? and winnipeg? please, no silly answers. I need help and information. Thanks Please remember that I'm an international student. I know nurses are highly needed. I want to get me nursing degree there. will i be able to get a job afterwards?

Hi I'm not in the medical field but I am from Canada. Canada has a great need for nurses. It will be very easy to get a job anywhere in Canada. As for living expenses Vancouver is one of the most expesive places to live in Canada. Winnipeg is much cheaper but the weather is very cold to people who are not used to live in Canada.

In my opinion, the warmth of the Canadian people will make up for the cold temperatures in Canada. I don't think you'll have any trouble getting into a nursing program. The gentleman who answered you first is right --- Canada currently has a shortage of nurses. There are even more opportunities for work and the potential to make an outstanding salary in the Northwest Territories. Most institutions of higher education in Canada welcome international students with open arms....particularly if your grades are solid. The "Finding Your School" page on the website below will help you conduct a search by province and program of study. You should also read about the differences between the educational systems in the U.S. and Canada so you have a clear understanding of the type of school you're looking for. Good luck to you (and your family)! ADDITIONAL LINK TO NEWSLETTER BELOW....JUST RELEASED TODAY, September, 26, 2007 regarding Canadian schools and jobs for immigrants. Good luck

Whats the job prospect for an international student in canada/US?
Whats the job prospect for an international student in canada/US?
Whats the job prospect for an international graduate student in canada/US who are not citizens of these countries? After getting MSC/MS/PhD degree, can I expect that I shall get 1 job?

That is dependent on a lot of things. The US is a huge country, and the economic situation varies greatly from place to place. It is also very much depending on what your degree is in, and how much field experience you have. Being a citizen is not really a factor, they want to hire the most qualified person for the job. I do not know about Canada's situation, geographically they are completely different than America, but here in the States you can never expect to get a job, unless you are going into the medical field, even engineering is really falling into massive cuts. In America you can never expect anything, kind of scary, but don't give up.

This depends on your country of origin. Without knowing that, I can't help you. This should help though: http://www.cic.gc.ca/EnGLIsh/study/index.asp If you are American and crossing by land you can apply at any major border crossing.
2 :
Only if you qualify as an international student, are accepted by a university in Canada, can provide financial proof of being able to support yourself while here, you may have to post a bond with immigration, and can meet the grade standard requirements immigration has, pass a criminal record and background check and the medical exam Americans have to be accepted as international students and go through the same process any other foreign student has to, and they have to pay international student fees to study in Canada. You CANNOT just enter Canada from the USA and enroll in University without a Visa To be eligible to study in Canada You must have been accepted by a school, college, university or other educational institution in Canada. You must prove that you have enough money to pay for your: tuition fees living expenses for yourself and any family members who come with you to Canada and return transportation for yourself and any family members who come with you to Canada. You must be a law-abiding citizen with no criminal record and not be a risk to the security of Canada. You may have to provide a police certificate. You must be in good health and willing to complete a medical examination, if necessary. You must satisfy an immigration officer that you will leave Canada when you have completed your studies.
3 :
The short answer is NO.......... Having a visa in the UK has no relevance in Canada. Two separate countries, with totally different rules about who gets a visitors or student's visa. Jim B. Toronto.
