How much in tax returns will I be roughly getting back as a working university student in Canada?

How much in tax returns will I be roughly getting back as a working university student in Canada?
I'm an alberta resident filing my income tax for the first time at 20 yrs old. I've worked part time since I was 14 and even currently in university. I'm also receiving student loans. I was just wondering what is a good estimate of how much I should be getting back for tax returns.

Assuming you're not making a lot of money (under 20k) with the credits you've mentioned I would assume you would get back all the tax withheld by your employer (or the amount in box 22 on your t4).

When you student visa runs out you have to leave the country, you can apply to return to Canada via the standard immigration application, just because you studied in Canada does not mean you can stay in Canada or will be accepted into Canada as a permanent resident
2 :
You cannot change the type of visa you have without returning home first.

Can I work with a student visa in Canada?

Can I work with a student visa in Canada?
I'm hoping to go to a university in Canada one day and I'm an American. I'm completely financially independent, working slightly above minimum wage, so there's no way for me to save up enough money to sustain living in Canada without a job. If I'm on a student visa, will I be able to apply for a job in Canada?

I really don't know. But I had a problem at customs once when I was doing a trade-show and they said I had to have a work permit to enter the country. It was a real hassle. They might require you to have that. Ask the Canadian government.
2 :
www.cic.gc.ca is the immigration website and you can probably find your answer there. My guess is that, on a student visa, you can't work except for something like student teaching through the university.
3 :
Yes, you can work while on a student visa. However, it is not quite as simple as finding a job and starting work. In order to work off-campus, you need to be a full-time student that has studied in Canada for at least one year and you must apply for a work permit through the CIC. If your application is approved, you are only eligible to work up to 20 hours per week while school is in session (and full-time during breaks and the summer). There is a $150 fee to apply for the work permit. You will also need to get a Social Insurance Number (SIN), the Canadian equivalent of an SSN, to be able to work. Check out this FAQ for more details: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/faq/study/index.asp You can also work on-campus without a work permit.

Student visa in Canada is ending, how do I switch to a visitor's visa to stay for a few more months?
My girlfriend's student visa in Canada expires end of this February and she wants to stay a couple of more months for travel etc. The question is, where to I go to start this process? Do i have to apply it outside of Canada? Or any visa office in Vancouver is fine? Thank you

She should be able to extend her visa. This link should help.
2 :
I would contact the embassy/consulate of her country of origin in Vancouver. She should be able to apply from within the country no problem. Check out the link for a full list.

US Student living in Canada. Filed US and Canadian Federal Taxes. Must I file Maine state return?

US Student living in Canada. Filed US and Canadian Federal Taxes. Must I file Maine state return?
I had my taxes done professionally, and they only filed a US and Canadian return. They claimed I was a resident of the US - since I am a student and "normally" my address would be Maine. The only income I had at my Maine address would technically be $500.00 in bank interest at that address. All other income was from within Canada. Must I file a Maine return claiming the Canadian income from my wife and I?

The question of whether you're a Maine resident under Maine law is different from the question of whether you're a US resident under the US-Canada Tax Treaty. Bank interest is not considered "sourced", so you wouldn't have to file a Maine non-resident return to report it, but bank account location is a factor in residency. However, the first reference suggests that Maine will consider you a resident unless you take actions to indicate that you do not intend to return to Maine, AND that you are maintaining a "domicile" in Canada. As a student, that seems unlikely, but not impossible. See, in particular, example 3 of the second reference for an example of a student who is NOT considered a resident of the state where she attends school, but of Maine, the state she left from. On the other hand, if your wife is a Canadian resident (under US law, NOT necessarily Canadian law), and you're living with her in Canada, then that may qualify as a Domicile. In that case, though, you'd probably be a Canadian resident under US law, and I don't want to second-guess your professionals without complete information.

How do i apply for a job in Australia as a current student in Canada?

How do i apply for a job in Australia as a current student in Canada?
I'm a student at university in Ontario. My girlfriend is going to school in Australia for the summer so I've decided i'm going to go down and live with her for a few months in the summer. I was wondering how i would go about applying for a restaurant-type job in Sydney for the summer months. I'm obviously new to this, so any pointers or tips would be greatly appreciated.
