If I want to bring my car from the united states to canada under a student visa, what do I have to do?
I have already been in canada for a year and would like to fly back down to the U.S. to drive my car back up. I am wondering if my student visa covers things like tax, if I have to register it under a canadian licence, or need an inspection done. I plan on having the car remain in canada until my visa expires or I get my degree, which will be another 4 years. Any links or info regarding the topic are greatly appreciated!

Since you can buy your passport at costco just get one,LOL jk. If your you plan on living in Canada then you need to get a Canadian license and registration if you want to keep it until your visa expires and are going to go and work in the united states just keep your car American. There will be no need to get a Canadian license and registration if you don't plan on living their.

There are so many uses for old secured personal loans, and the chances are you will be able to get one quickly and easily. It's a common idea that only homeowners can get loans from finance companies. That just isn't true, most people can apply for, and receive an unsecured personal all kinds of uses. You can get loans from a few hundred pounds, up to £25,000, unsecured. These loans can be used to buy a new car, a holiday abroad, a new kitchen, the latest cell phone available, or just about anythingelse. It is a true that you will probablypay more interest than a homeowner who takes out a secured loan. But on the other hand, they have to take out a second mortgage to get their hands on the money.

(Canadians Please) Is it possible for my old Canada Student Loan to vanish of the face of the earth?
Long story as to why it even came to exist in the first place. I had it 8 years ago. I recently tried to find it to make payment arrangements, but the government, the Royal Bank, and my credit report has no record of it. Is this possible?

only if you do...........
2 :
It will eventually show up on your credit report, as soon as it is sold to a collection agency, which is inevitable. Canadian law changed in 2002, and student loans are now permanent - they never drop off the credit report even after the old 7 year statute period. They also survive bankruptcy. If you call 1-800-387-5604 and give your SIN they can tell you if you have any outstanding provincial debts. Kind regards.

Can International student in Canada become Canadian citizen?
Can International student in Canada become Canadian citizen?
i want to study in Canada and i do not conceal, i have intention to stay in Canada! i have chosen a college and i hope i will be accepted to the college next fall. I have chosen 2 year program education. If i successifully complete 2 year education, will it gives me the opportunity to apply for immigration and eventually become a Canadian? Or what option will i have? What should I do to become permanent resident in Canada as international student?

^ Sam above me is obviously quite clueless ^ Basically you have two options to becoming a Canadian citizen: 1) Get married to a Canadian... 2) Apply to a college/university as an International Student which would give you a Student VISA. Once you're done your studies and you're qualified to work, you will need to apply for a Work VISA which entitles you to legally work in the country (you're not a citizen yet though) and then 3 years later, you can apply for citizenship.
2 :
There's a lot of information on this website, including studying in Canada. Have a good look at both the studying and the immigration part and plan accordingly.
3 :
Quebec is offering Canadian citizenship to international students who graduate from any university in the province. http://www.sds.uwo.ca/int/visa/index.html?pr#about
4 :
Good For you! That's exactly what I plan to do! I plan to go to college in Vancouver B.C., buy my own house, and apply for a citizenship
5 :
If you come to Canada on a student visa you have to return home when your studies are completed. If you wish to immigrate to Canada you have to apply for immigration from your home country. You would have to qualify as a skilled worker to come back. If you are here on student visa you CANNOT stay once you studies are finished. You CANNOT work while here on a student visa(except on campus). Once your studies are over you MUST return home. You CANNOT just stay here and skip to the front of the immigration line. Also we do not issue Green Cards, that is an American thing.I do not know where people get the idea they can just stay here once they have gone to school here.

Hey. I hope you do come to Canada, you will enjoy it! As far as your question goes, I really need more information to help you. How much you can earn in Canada depends on a multitude of factors. What kind of job will you be looking for? What kind of experience and qualifications do you have? I have never heard of a 40% tax for foreigners, I don't believe that is accurate. The tax rate for goods and services is currently at 14%, I don't believe you would be treated any differently. Monthly expenses again will depend on several variables. Where will you be living?

Where does a grad student who wants to study in Canada go for student loans?
Where does a grad student who wants to study in Canada go for student loans?
Hi. I'm hoping to go to grad school in Canada next year. My top choices are the University of Ottawa and Concordia University in Montreal. I'm from the United States and would need to pay for grad school through student loans. Where is the best place to go to get these loans? Are loans that will cover living expenses also available to me? Am I looking to get loans from places in the United States or Canada? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks ahead of time.

It is nearly impossible to obtain student loans for study abroad. You aren't eligible to borrow in Canada if you go to school there, and in the US, you would be going overseas, therefore ineligible for most types of student loans. Your parents, however, might be able to obtain parent loans. Remember, you have to prove you have sufficient funds for all of your school expenses, plus all of your living expenses, plus transportation back to your own country. If you are relying on loans for school + living expenses, and have no real funds of your own, you are going to have a great deal of difficulty getting a student visa. You and your parents really need to come up with a better method of paying for grad school, or forget studying overseas. You probably could not borrow enough in the US for school + living expenses staying in the US. It's just too much money to borrow, and banks are not keen on lending these days. Student loans funds are low and demand is up, too.

I hope you listed her name on your application as a dependant. Work permits for spouses of students If you are a full-time student at a recognized postsecondary institution, and you have a valid work permit or study permit, your spouse or common-law partner can apply for a permit to work in Canada. As long as they have a work permit, they can work in any occupation and change jobs at any time. (this will be an open work permit). They must apply for this open work permit AFTER they arrive in Canada. These permits are valid for the same period of time as your study or work permit.

Can a student from Canada go to University in USA, if yes do I have to do the SAT?

Yes you can, but you will need to fill out extra paperwork (such as for a student visa) and will have different foreign aid from what American students receive. Depending on the school, you might get less financial support than comparable American students (if they have limited funding), although my undergrad had international scholarships to encourage students from other countries to attend. If you do decide to go to a US college, you will most likely need to take either the ACT or SAT. However, some schools (such as Pittsburgh State in Pennsylvania) have it as an option.
2 :
You can certainly be accepted on merit, but you'll find the financial aid available in most schools (except for a few along the border, and the elites), is dramatically lower for international students like yourself. You could easily find yourself paying $40,000+ for a year's studies - $160,000 for a bachelor's degree...

in need of a guardian letter in Canada for student visa?
I am currently applying for my student visa to go to Newfoundland,Canada to study. The problem is, i'm not 18 old yet, and im requested to have a guardian letter from Canada. I dont know of anyone in that province and my friend's in toronto. i plan to live on school campus (dorms), is there any organization or should the school be able to help me out with this?

I would assume that there would be someone at the Canadian institution who would be able to act as your guardian for the duration of your study there. I would phone the international and/or study abroad office to see who would act as your guardian. They probably have had this request before, and have someone who regularly does this. If they don't suggest someone, ask your home university where you should turn for this letter. Even though they aren't your Canadian uni, they should be able to give you criteria for who is supposed to sign these things. In addition, if you know where exactly you'll be staying, contact your dorm's tutor/resident advisor/house mom to see if they know exactly what to do. Good luck!

Can someone who lives in the United States become an exchange student in Canada?
I was thinking of becoming an exchange student when I am in the 11th grade. I either want to go to France or Canada (most likely somewhere in Quebec), but my parents want me to stay as close to home as possible.

Yes I heard someone exchange somewhere super far from he is

Yes, you can do that.
3 :
Yes, it can be done ... be careful about asking on YA ... there are paid recruiters from the big programs who troll the questions looking for new students (just be careful).

What is the highest grade average earned by a student in Canada?
What is the highest grade average earned by a student in Canada?
I did some searching but I could only find records on American high school GPAs. Since Canada records grade averages on a 1-100% scale, what is the highest recorded average for a highschool student in Canada (in one semester)?

100%. A student in my school had that two years ago (she was doing co-op though)
2 :
If you search online there are many top students in Canada that have earned between 99-100% averages. I was astounded actually at what a search turned up. Good question.

If after coming as a student to Canada I apply asylum and my application is denied may I lose student status?
If I come as a full time student to Canada and after arriving apply to asylum and my application will be denied may I lost my student status? May I have chance to graduate my school after negative Court's desigion and after graduation to apply for a skilled worker/or similar immigration/work program inside of Canada?

it is possible - yes. to be eligible to be a student you need to have lots of money to support yourself as you are NOT eligible to use the health system. If you have lots of money then you are NOT a refugee. refugees flee with nothing but the clothes on their backs and maybe one suitcase. The above statement is my opinion, And the statement below is Fact - and Canadian LAW Under Canadian laws, you should have reqested asylum in the first western country you arrived in (by plane or walking). If you did not do that then you are not eligible for refugee status in Canada.
2 :
Hi, Asylum cases depend on what ground you are applying and what proof you have. I think you should concentrate on your studies. Do not waste money on such ideas and after graduation do job and apply for immigration. Correct way is the good way. Sidwell is correct. Since there are VERY few refugee generating countries where refugees arrive directly from that country to Canada, there are much less opportunities for refugees to be accepted to CAnada than there used to be.

Canada Student Loan question when you quit school?
Canada Student Loan question when you quit school?
I got accepted to a program this coming september and i'll be getting student loan for it. But right now i'm not sure if i should quit my job just to go back to school. I want to try the program to see if it's right for me My question is if I go to school and after a few days decided to quit school and just work, do I have to pay back the student loans/bursaries right away or will i be getting the 6 month before paying back the loans?

If you decide that you are not going to complete your program, you must call the National Student Loans Service Centre immediately to inform them. The school will automatically send your name in if you do quit, so it is in your best interest to tell the NSLSC first. You should get a 6-month grace period before you would have to pay back the loans. The sentence below is from the CanLearn/NSLSC website (link below): 19) Q. What happens if I have received loans but cannot finish my program? A. You should advise your loan holders as soon as possible. You will have to start making payments on your loans 6 months after you leave school, unless you qualify for debt management assistance. See the Can't Repay? section to find out about programs for students who are having trouble repaying their loans. I hope the program works out for you!
2 :
you still get the 6 months. Please check the refund policy of the school you plan to attend. since in most provinces the loan documents go to the school first, the school will take their tuition fees out of your loan. You only have a short period of time to withdraw from the program and get the school to refund the fees back to the student loan people. After that, they keep their portion of the loan and you are responsible for paying it back. Also if you attend school, get your student loan and then quit, you may be placed on academic probation and getting student loans again may be difficult or even impossible. Depending on the school you may be identified as a "runner" ie someone who only enrolled to get the student loan and had no intention of staying in school. If that happens, say goodbye to getting student loans again and say goodbye to your hope of ever having good credit, getting car loans, buying a house, getting a credit card. Best advice is to not negotiate your loans until you decide if you are going to continue. Then if you decide you are leaving, you can return the loan document (essentially giving them back their money) and you will not owe them anything.

My wife is also a Filipino National who has since applied and received her Canadian Citizenship. She applied to come to Canada as a skilled worker. In your case, you can apply to come to Canada from Nepal as a Filipino National. It doesn't matter that you are married to a Nepalese as long as your immigrant status there has not changed. In the case that it has changed for example, you became a Nepalese citizen, then you would apply as a Nepalese irregardless of your previous nationality. If you are granted access to come to Canada (in which case in response to your question...it is much easier to get to Canada from outside of the Philippines as a Filipino national), then Canada would grant you a student Visa only and nothing else. At the end of the term you would have to leave Canadian soil to renew your Visa or apply for permanent resident status. Anyways, the laws are very complex and each case unique, but the bottom line is that if you are in Nepal, stay in Nepal and apply from there. The Canadian Embassy in the Philippines is too tough.
2 :
Yes, you can apply for your study permit from Nepal if you are currently residing there. See this link for your answer and you can get detailed information about the whole process as well: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/study-how.asp#step3

Does Canada allow student visa holders to convert to working visas?
Does Canada allow student visa holders to convert to working visas?
I have heard that canada laws require students to leave the country after finishing their studies are students; it's very hard to stay and find work. Can anyone confirm/refute this?

But usually only for 1 year. So far I have not seen anything that says you can change status permanently inside the country. So basically yes you would need to leave canda to get a work permit. But there is nothing to stop you looking for work while you are in Canada and then leaving for a week to get the WP and then coming back - I dont think.

Ask yourself this question ? If regular immigration applicants are waiting up to three years to get approval, why should you expect to get special fast treatment ? Canada wants people who have actual working experience, not just a recent graduate diploma. A student visa is for a set period of time in Canada, When it expires, you go home. Once you are back in your own country, feel free to apply, and see if you are accepted. Remember, it is our country, and we set the Immigration rules. You just have to obey them. . Jim B. Toronto.

So go to the immigration office and request a change of status.
2 :
you can not apply while your still a student
3 :
you cannot apply for PR status until after you have graduated and worked in Canada for 12 months on a post grad work permit, in a full time job that is related to your degree. Once you have done the 12 months in a full time job, then you can apply for PR but you must stay on the work permit and keep working. Processing for PR in this category so far is taking more than 12 months This is called the Canadian Experience class. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/cec/index.asp
4 :
For now, you have a student visa which mean that you can't work unless you work on the campus (university). To have a better answer, you have to tell us what is your country of origin... But with the info we have, I would suggest you to apply as a skilled worker, but you will lose your student status... If you have relatives (mom/dad or kids) in Canada, it is different... If you are a US citizen, you have other options. It depends from where you are from... France and Quebec have their own agreements too... www.cic.gc.ca/

You can see if you will qualify for a canadian Work Visa. You need to return to your country of origin and apply for immigration from there. You cannot apply for a different visa from within Canada.
